Project’s Brief Al Qabel is located to the north-west of Sana’a, about 20 km from the city center. Though it is on the outskirts of the city, it is still effectively a large village – see (though labeled Al Qabil in the map). Public networks were introduced in 1973 with galvanized pipes in part of the village through community participation and this gradually expanded to other parts of the area and improved. In 2001 it was taken over by the local council and since then some improvements and extensions have been made. Scope of Service The objectives of the Yemen urban water OBA project are:
