Narrative Description of Project:

Beryan dam site is located at the extreme east limit of Beni Hushaish District, the project consist of Two alternative dam types were fully developed.  The first alternative is a zoned embankment 21 m high with an upstream rock fill zone and a downstream earth fill zone with a reservoir capacity of 145,000 m3.  The second alternative is a masonry dam 18.5m high with the same reservoir capacity of 145,000 m3 and 17 m high with a reduced capacity of 90,000 m3.

Description of Actual Services Provided by Your Staff:

The scope of service includes to review of available studies, site investigation & data, review of dam site condition & site physical features, construction materials used and the strength of the materials used in the dam, topographic features of the reservoirs, evaluation of the geological conditions of the dam and the reservoir area.

It included a review of the dam’s sites, conditions, and site physical features, review of existing foundation conditions including geological, and geotechnical aspects of the existing dam and spillway.

The services included preparation of topographical and geological maps, test pit excavation, sampling and field testing, drilling of boreholes, sampling of disturbed (including split spoon samples) and undisturbed samples, and carrying out the necessary and appropriate field testing.
